I have tried running multiple System Restores. I play an online game which I recently patched up and I now want to down patch it to an older version. The files for this game are in my Public folder on the C drive.

I updated the game files today and I have a restore point which I created yesterday, I tried restoring my laptop to that restore point, it went through the motion as normal and when my laptop finally rebooted itself and I got to my desktop I got this message:

System Restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settings were not changed.

Details:
the restore point was damaged or deleted during the restore.


I have no idea what's going wrong so any feedback or a solution would be great.

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall (if any)?

Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)?
