I have a windows xp with sp3 installed.
I havent had this problem before and here is what happened. My computer kept telling me to do some automatic updates and saying that it will be download them in 14 minutes or so ( countdown ). Since I was busy using the pc I chose the "restart later" option. Then I left my pc and went to do something else, so I assume that the message to get the updates, and that my pc will restart, appeared again. I decided to use my computer again and I noticed that just before I was going to move the mouse, the standby screen was starting to appear. Then when I moved the mouse so the the pc will resume normally from stand by, the computer rebooted. Im not sure it the system was about to stand by or to normally reboot after getting the updates ( meaning it never went on standby, and me moving the mouse never affected anything ).
Then I got a message telling me that the system closed unexpectedly and it gave me options into how to boot it again properly. I tried the "last known configuration", "windows normally", and all the 3 of the safe modes, and nothing happened ... it kept rebooting. Then I chose the option to disable automatic rebooting after system failure, and tried to get into windows. A blue screen popped up telling me that if I see a "stop message" with a driver name, that I should disable it. Well this is what appeared:
stop: 0x0000007e (0x80000003 0x805c49b8 0xf89c02b4 0xf89bffb0)
No driver name though.
I checked this link of the microsoft site:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330182It gives you possible solutions to the problem. The thing is that I cant even get into the system using safe mode, and thats because when I choose the "disable automatic reboot after system failure I go directly to 2 options: to start windows, or recovery console. The safe mode option is in the same screen list as the "disable reboot" one, so I either choose safe mode ( which then will do nothing since the system will reboot in the splash screen ), or "disable reboot" ( where then there is no safe mode option available ).
What can I do about this?
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I can only access the recovery console via the DOS system. When I tried to use that option at first, I had the regular point and click and interface, but now I only have the DOS, and Im totally unfamiliar with the latter.
