I am not averse to change. But today's update to Hotmail was not necessary, for me at least. I have to look all around for cc, sorting is moved, and the banner pushing Silverlight is just one more program to get me to move closer to a Microsoft controlled online environment. No wonder my kids and colleges are going exclusively to g-mail.

Welcome to AumHa Forums.

Yes, lots of changes are being rolled out worldwide as part of the Windows Live Hotmail "Wave 4" initiative. See http://windowsteamblog.com/windows_live/b/windowslive/.

As for Silverlight & Hotmail's new "Active View," see http://team.silverlight.net/announcement/silverlight-powers-the-new-windows-live-hotmail/

Can the user disable (turn-off) some or all of the new features? I dunno, you'd have to ask 'em yourself:

Comment: Sources tell me that young(er) Southeast Asians are Hotmail's largest (and growing larger every day) user-group so these new features are targeting them and, by extension, advertisers in Southeast Asia. It's a whole new world out there, my friend, and that's where the money is.
