After you install Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), your computer repeatedly restarts. You do not receive an error message.
If your processor supports "hardware-enforced data execution prevention" (eg, an AMD 64-bit processor),
AND you have hardware that requires Mpegport.sys driver, then you may find this Microsoft article useful.

In any event, if your XP system is rebooting with an abnormal termination, and you do not get an on-screen STOP exception, do the following (regardless of processor type), so you can see the Error exception.
Go to My Computer, then select Properties. Select the "Advanced" TAB and
in the
Startup and Recovery section click the "Settings" button.
At
System Failure block,
"Un-check" the "Automatically restart" line. Apply change, make clean exit.
This will prevent a "reboot on error", and will also show (when you have Win
exception) the error code and its description.
IF a STOP error occurs, write down its number and complete description and follow up on fixes.
If Normal mode of Windows is still "re-booting" itself, reboot pc & tap the F8 Function key to select SAFE Mode, then do steps above.
If you see this Stop error
0x000000FC (ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NOEXECUTE_MEMORY)
do see the MS article.
